ISS assisted as an observer to the first plenary meeting of the Committee for the Rights of the Child of the Council of Europe (CDENF) hold in Strasbourg from 4-6 February.
The CDENF, established in 2020, is the Council of Europe intergovernmental body responsible for the standard-setting activities in the field of the rights of the child. The agenda of the meeting was based on the five key priorities of the Council of Europe Strategy for the Rights of the Child (2016-2021) as well as the new challenges identified by the mid-term evaluation undertaken in November 2019.
This very profitable meeting was a great opportunity to introduce the work of ISS which is particularly relevant for key priorities such as children affected by parental separation and migrant and refugee children, and identify avenues to collaborate with the CDENF on these issues.
