Throughout the years, ISS has collected a high volume of resources relating to the protection of children deprived of their family. The documents cover a wide range of specific topics such as the prevention of abandonment, children living in institutions, foster care, domestic and intercountry adoption, children’s rights and adoption. They are mostly written documents such as periodicals, books, leaflets, manuals, training material, theses, research reports and news clippings.

This documentation centre helps ISS in its everyday work, in particular with responding to the numerous information requests it receives. But the data base is so rich that ISS wishes to share it with as many people as possible and accordingly has it made it available online as follows:

•    By authors
•    By countries (concerned by the document)
•    By keywords
•    By titles

Advice on search:
•    Type one keyword in the "search" box - For keywords, consult the list "index".
•    Type several keywords or words separated by "and" : it focuses the search more precisely.
•    Type several keywords or words separated by "or" : it extends the search.
For a specific country, type the code of the country + "or" + the complete name of the country in English. This will extend the search.

Each documentation sheet presents all the information available about the editor and the publisher, as well as a short summary in English.

You are welcome to come and consult ISS documentation centre in its offices, in Geneva. You may just give us a call or send us an e-mail before coming (see our Contact page). However, unfortunately, it is not possible for ISS to provide copies of the documents by post. Please request them from the publisher.

ISS would be very grateful to receive any relevant document you know of which are not included in the data base. This would ensure that the data base is complete and provide its network with updated information. You may send or notify your documents by e-mail. Thank you very much for your cooperation!
