ISS/Casework Beneficiaries
ISS services are dedicated to families and children who are facing social difficulties which involve more than one country as a consequence of international migration or displacement. More than 80% of these cases concern children.
ISS provides services for separated families, including:
- Abducted children and their family
- Separated and unaccompanied minors
- Adopted children, their family of origin and their adoptive family
ISS also supports particular groups of individuals in the context of specific development projects. For example:
- Children and youth victims of trafficking or other exploitation in West Africa: ISS Swiss branch, in partnership with local players, supports the social and professional reintegration of these children and youth, and helps to re-establish the family links. Furthermore the project contributes to preventing the migration of minors at risk.
- Migrant workers arriving in Hong Kong: ISS Hong Kong Branch provides psychosocial support, general information, temporary shelter and language courses to facilitate their integration. Support begins at the mobile information service at Hong Kong International Airport.
- Children in Libya separated from their mothers: ISS United Kingdom Branch organises accompanied visits to Libya for groups of mothers whose children were taken or abducted. Many have been separated from their children without contact of any kind. Administrative and ongoing socio-psychological support is provided to all family members throughout the process.
